On March 16th, 2011 a Newark city employee found a garbage bag that was thrown down a trash chute that contained the body of an emaciated, almost dead and barely breathing dog. The dog was taken immediately to the local shelter for emergency veterinary care. The Veterinarian on staff made the courageous decision to save the dog’s life. Most dogs in that type of condition are likely often humanely euthanized. Something compelled the Vet to give the dog necessary emergency care to stabilize the starved animal. I think we are all grateful that decision was made. After being at the local shelter and the decision to try and save his life was made, the dog was transported to a twenty-four hour veterinary center for further emergency care. Patrick has been there ever since. During his time there, we have been able to see pictures posted on the internet of his progress. There were even some nice videos on the web showing him interacting like dogs do. It has been awesome to see him recuperate from near death, to a young, healthy pup.
